Chick-fil-A Researching Vegan Meat Options for Its menu
As of now, a vegan won’t have sufficient enough options to rejoice, at the Georgia based fast-food chain Chick-fil-A. Few obvious options like ordering a wrap or a salad sans meat, and few other offerings like waffle-fried, hash browns and superfood sides are there. All these are great but does in no way replace a proper and main vegan entrée, say, something like a wholesome vegan meat sandwich!
And it is a fact that more and more fast food giants are extending (or researching) their menu to accommodate vegan dishes. Now, it seems, the sandwich specialist is ready to join the ‘grown-up’ dietary movement that is sustainable, and cruelty-free, thanks to the overwhelming growth of veganism and vegan food demand.
As reported by Business Insider, Georgia based Chick-fil-A is looking into more plant-based options for their menu. As such, it is even assumed that the company, much like few other fast-food giants, is researching its own vegan meat alternative. Speaking to the business media outlet, Chick-fil-A’s menu executive director Amanda Norris said that they’re definitely ‘aware’ and are always ‘interested’ in what is ‘happening in food,’ adding that a specifically a vegan or a vegetarian option is what they’ve been thinking of, and looking at, and even have some research.
She mentioned that the company has been studying vegan options for a few years as of now and are reportedly looking into the demographics into how customers are drawn to vegan offerings in the menu.
Slow and Steady it Is
Norris mentioned that for Chick-fil-A to launch a new item, the company takes 18-24 months to serve an item at the store, that would have started with just a spark of an idea. Every new item or even a tweak in technology at Chick-fil-A has to go through the five stages of ‘understand, imagine, prototype, validate and launch’ to ultimately show off in the menu, reports Business Insider. Norris mentioned that they are moving from ‘watch stage’ to ‘understand’ or ‘really imagine stage,’ of adding more vegan options.
The company possibly won’t let vegans down with just a no meat salad or wrap as per reports. The vegan meat industry is undeniable on the storm in the recent months and we can only expect more of innovations in the future.
