Dairy-Free Brand So Delicious Launches Low-Calorie Vegan Ice Cream Mousse in 7 Flavors

Frozen dessert brand So Delicious will soon launch a low-calorie dairy-free vegan ice cream range. Each tub will contain 330 calories or less in the spirit of Halo Top’s low-calorie frozen desserts.

In a series of Instagram posts, the company teased the new mousse products with ambiguous announcements. “We have a little secret. We are almost ready to share it with the world.”

A follow-up announcement revealed the new range will include strawberry, chocolate chip, cranberry-cherry, salted caramel, peanut butter, mango, and lemon flavors. “With a flavor for everyone, guilt has met its match,” the company said.

The new range is not So Delicious’ first foray into ice cream products but is its first l0w-calorie variety. The thirty-year-old company has offered a wide range of vegan products, including frozen desserts made with cashew milk, coconut milk, almond milk, and soy milk, catering for a wide range of allergies and flavor preferences. As well as ice cream, So Delicious also produces dairy-free yogurt, milk, and cheese.

According to the brand’s website, So Delicious uses organic ingredients when possible, and all of its products are certified vegan. The items are either Non-GMO Project verified or enrolled for certification. No artificial flavors, colors, hydrogenated oils, or trans-fats are used, and since all of its lines are plant-based, none of its products contains cholesterol.

An increasing number of businesses and consumers are turning toward vegan dairy products. Moving away from dairy made with cow’s milk is said to benefit health, the environment, and animal welfare. Footage exposing cruel practices on dairy farms recently prompted New Zealand’s Green Party to demand higher standards of animal welfare. And last month, research found that the production of dairy milk produces four times more carbon dioxide than the production of non-dairy milk.

Additionally, researchers found links between dairy consumption and a range of health problems. One report said concerns regarding heart disease and breast cancer will lead to the boosting of the global dairy alternatives market. The market is expected to reach $35.6 billion by 2024. The vegan ice cream market on its own is set to reach $2.45 billion by 2027 as demand for the product steadily increases.
