Grumpy Cat, the well-loved globally famous internet meme cat that we all know and love, unfortunately, passed away last week on May 14th at the young age of 7. Since her photo was posted to the internet platform Reddit back in 2012 by her human uncle, her permanently grumpy face went viral and the internet’s for her hasn’t stopped since then. Even in death, I’m positive that she will continue to live on, in spirit!

Originally named “Tadar Sauce” when she was born in Spring 2012, Grumpy Cat has taken the internet by storm in the form of memes and adorable photos shared by her human family on social media. According to the heartbreaking message below posted to Grumpy Cat’s official Instagram account, it was revealed that Grumpy Cat was suffering from complications from her recent UTI that ended up leading to her passing. It was shared that she peacefully passed away at home in her human mommy, Tabitha’s, arms.

With T-shirts, books, stuffed animals, and even a movie about her where she was voiced by Parks and Rec actress Aubrey Plaza, there’s no doubting that Grumpy Cat was truly a worldwide sensation who was loved by many.
