Lush to Host Coffee Shop Pop-Up

Vegan favourites Lush are opening a pop-up coffee shop in London, in efforts to highlight plastic waste. Whilst we’re aware of the detrimental effects that plastic has on our environment, we can always do more to help raise awareness.

The pop-up is also a social enterprise which will be staffed by homeless members of the community, and it will be at the Lush Soho Studio on Beak Street from August 14 for four weeks. Named with the hashtag ‘#carrythecup’ the vegan coffee shop will be offering free coffee, iced coffee or tea to anyone who comes in with a reusable cup.

The pop-up will be decorated with educational facts and positive actions to inspire people to incorporate these changes into their lives, which could reduce huge amounts of waste. There will be limited edition reusable coffee cups on sale for £12.00, which are made from six used cups.

Lush Soho Studio Manager, Michael O’Brien, said: “Reducing our reliance on plastic has been at the forefront of Lush’s innovation for the last 23 years. Beyond cosmetics, there are habits we can break and simple changes we can make to reduce or remove single-use plastic from our lives.

“By transforming our front exhibition space in to a friendly coffee shop, we want to invite London locals and visitors inside for a free cup of coffee (or tea) and an informative discussion on how to ditch the single-use coffee cup, and learn to #carrythecup.”
