Vegan nonprofit Mercy for Animals has partnered with meat-free hunger-relief organization Community Solidarity to donate 2,000 meals to New Yorkers in need.
Each of the entirely plant-based meals — contributed by local businesses such as by CHLOE., VSPOT, and Vegan Kitchen — were made to be nutrient dense and high in protein.
The initiative, dubbed Plants to the People, took to the streets last weekend, with volunteers handing out meals in Brooklyn and Hempstead — homes to some of the city’s most vulnerable populations.
